Description

Linda Kosciewicz

The White Series and new work

Exhibition opening night

Gallery 2, Patriothall Gallery

Known for her evocative works that examine the human condition, female identity, and emotional content in relation to the human body, Linda Kosciewicz's exhibition presents her White Series which explores the cultural and symbolic aspects of the colour white - sexuality, innocence, life, death, purity and transience alongside exciting, evocative and beautiful recent work that extends earlier boundaries.

She continues to explore the theme of female identity in her new work whilst simultaneously scrutinising the human condition and issues of body freedom. Her images are a complex bringing together of her ideas and images. They are one part performance and one part constructed worlds derived from influences ranging from sculpture, visual art, the built and natural environments, literature (especially Shakespeare), Alastair Gray, etc, all the way to cinema via films such as Bladerunner and Mulholland Drive.

Linda has exhibited throughout the UK, France, Poland and Malaysia and was a finalist in an international Photography Open Salon based at the Galerie Huit, Arles, France. In 2012 she won the the Pauline Fay Lazarus prize in for work based on the human body.
