Event description

Description

Chicago for Chicagoans is excited to announce our first winter adventure! Join us for a 1.5 hour walk through Lincoln Square, with stops planned indoors to ensure our toes stay thawed. In a special partnership with the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, the tour will cover the rich histories, architecture, and culture of Chicago's most famous German neighborhood while highlighting its rich patchwork of small businesses.

Beginning at the Western Brown Line stop, the tour will trace Lincoln Square's roots, from producing flowers, pickles, and celery in the mid 1800s, to the creation of its iconic pedestrian mall in the late 1970s, to its modern reputation as the Old-World inspired shopping and dining destination of the North Side. The afternoon will end with a meal at the Chicago Brauhaus, 4732 N Lincoln, a neighborhood landmark serving beer & brats in a Bavarian setting for over 40 years. Come learn something new about your place in space!

BONUS! Every guest will receive a one-of-a-kind sticker emblazoned with the words "WINTER DOESN'T SCARE ME." See our website for an example! chicagoforchicagoans.org/events

Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp, liking us on Facebook, spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too!
