Frequently Asked Questions

What if my date is sold out?

The zoo releases more reservations every Sunday and Thursday at 4:30 p.m. for the following 3-4 days. If your preferred date is sold out, you can join the zoo to access additional reservations available exclusively to members (and get year-round perks like free parking). You can also simply check back at a later date to see if spots have become available. It is possible more reservations will become available.

Lincoln Park Zoo reserves the right to increase or reduce the number of reservations available on any given date/time based on operational abilities and/or City and State guidelines.

Are reservations required for infants and children?

Yes. Every member of your party must be counted in your reservation, including infants and children. Only the guests included in the reservation will be allowed to enter the zoo.

Do I have to arrive right at the time I booked? What if I’m late?

Yes. Please arrive at the zoo within the half-hour window you reserved. You may enter anytime during the 30 minutes of your specified reservation time slot (for example, if you booked at 11:00-11:30 a.m., you may arrive between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m.). If you arrive at another time, you may not be guaranteed entry.

Can I bring a group or host a field trip?

The maximum group size for zoo visits is 10, and every member of your party must have a reservation. Lincoln Park Zoo respectfully requires school and camp groups larger than 10 split into groups of 10 while visiting the zoo. This helps keep the zoo in compliance with City and State guidelines. If you gather in a group larger than 10, you may be asked to split up again when you arrive and throughout your visit.

I’m a zoo member. How do I access members-only reservations?

Every Sunday at 4:30 p.m. zoo members can book reservations for the next seven days. To access members-only reservations, click the “tickets” button for the date you plan to visit and click the blue “enter promo code” link in the top-left corner. Enter the first three digits of your member ID to see members-only reservations alongside general reservations.

Is there a limit to the amount of time I can stay?

No. There is no formal limit to visit time. Most guests visit for up to about two hours.

What if my plans change?

If you are not able to use your reservation, please cancel or modify it via the link in your confirmation email. While we understand plans change and the zoo is free, we do have several guests who would love to use your spot if you are unable to visit!

Can I give my reservation to someone else/is it transferable?

Reservations are non-transferable due to the potential need for contact tracing.

Do I have to wear a face covering?

Yes, please. All zoo guests over age 2 should wear a face covering unless medically unable, especially near more crowded areas like popular animal habitats, food and retail kiosks, and restrooms. This helps protect other guests, our staff, volunteers, and animals in our care.

Can I still get food and souvenirs at the zoo?

Yes! Outdoor food and retail kiosks are open. The Patio at Cafe Brauer is open for outdoor dining and takeaway. Park Place Cafe is open for takeaway. Meals can be ordered using Tock: visit or

Where can I get more information?

Please visit for more information about the zoo’s updated operations. Call volume is high, so guests are encouraged to look online for information.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
