ABOUT THE EVENT: University of Idaho Coeur d'Alene, Innovation Collective and Gizmo-CDA are partnering to host a STEM activity night as part of the Lights On Afterschool national event and the DIG'NIT STEM education initiative.

Come to the Innovation Den to learn about Apple’s Swift coding language through the Swift Playgrounds app. Kids can come solo (University and Gizmo-CDA staff present) or with parents to work through fun puzzles and levels of Swift Playgrounds on an iPad. Gizmo-CDA, UI Coeur d'Alene, and Innovation Collective will provide mentorship and guidance throughout the evening. This event will be broadly self-paced and participants can come and go throughout the evening. Participants will also see UI Coeur d'Alene Computer Science Department and Gizmo robot demos!

Swift Playgrounds is a beginner program but can be challenging for some. For those students who find Swift Playground a little advanced, we will have stations set up to learn via the Code.org's Hour of Code learning programs. Hour of Code learning programs can be completed by the greenest of learners! We suggest students ages 5-8 begin with some Hour of Code programs.

COST: This event is free to attend!

AGE: 5 to 95! (kids under 8 should not attend unsupervised)

WI-FI: WI-FI connection will be provided for this event

REGISTRATION: Register for up to 4 people through this Eventbrite page. NOTE: you will find in the registration confirmation a Dropbox link to an event waiver. This waiver must be completed by each participant and returned.
