Event description

Description

"I try to stay as close to the edge as possible without going over. Out on the edge you can see all sorts of things you can't see from the center." - Kurt Vonnegut

I meet a lot of people working on interesting things that I wish I could share with others. This is an experiment in how to do that - a series of cozy sit-down live podcast interviews with people whose work and life opens a window into unconventional sides of the world and visions of the future. I don't know where it'll all go, but I trust in the magic of bringing interesting people together.

First up is Britt Wray, author of Rise of the Necrofauna: The Science, Ethics and Risks of De-Extinction. Britt is a radio broadcaster and writer and has worked as a host and producer on programs for CBC Radio, and is a presenter on BBC's Tomorrow's World podcast. With her book, she sheds light on the emerging practice of bringing back animals from extinction. From the woolly mammoth to passenger pigeon, scientists, philanthropists and others around the globe are tinkering with ways to revive species we thought were gone forever. Find out how it works, how it may change our future, why it's happening, and whether we should be thrilled or terrified.

Come for tea, shisha and strange ideas.
