The successful completion of this class is required before you can take a full Lifeguard Training Course.

Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing. Candidates may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles are allowed.
Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Candidates should place their hands under the armpits.
Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
- Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed.
Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.
Return to the surface and swim 20 yards to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Candidates should not swim the distance under water. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

Refund Policy Effective Date 11/1/16-10/31/17
There will be no refunds given for discounted lifeguard or pretest classes. Our standard cost of the lifeguard class and pretest is $450.00 ($400 for lifeguard training and $50.00 for the pretest), if you are paying any amount less than $450.00 it is considered discounted training.
In the event you are dealing with an extenuating circumstance and wish to request a refund please know that all extenuating circumstances will be dealt with on a case by case basis and MUST be pre-approved by our training department. Documentation of the extenuating circumstance must be submitted to Jess Muir (please see below for contact information). Please note: Failing the lifeguard pretest, not showing up to the lifeguard class, missing a day of the lifeguard class, or showing up late to the lifeguard class does not qualify the participant for a refund or qualify as an extenuating circumstance.
If you signed up for a class and you must change the date of the class, there will be a $50.00 transfer fee which is due immediately upon transfer. Please call our office and ask to speak with Jess Muir or email her to complete the transfer (contact information is listed below).

American Pool Enterprises, Inc. (APEI) has been an Authorized Provider with the American Red Cross since 1984. An Authorized Provider is a company, organization, individual or agency that has signed an Authorized Provider Agreement with the Red Cross to provide American Red Cross instructional programs in accordance with the standards and objectives of the program they desire to teach.
Each year American Pool companies train approximately 2,000 individuals to become American Red Cross lifeguards.
