Description

Karen Paul is a writer with a focus on essay and memoir, and a non-profit leader, manager and fundraiser who has been working for social justice causes for nearly 30 years. She is the principal of Karen Paul/Catalyzing Philanthropy, a boutique consulting shop that trains and works with non-profit organizations to strengthen and expand their development operations. Prior to launching KP/CP, Karen was the Executive Director of the Tikkun Olam Women's Foundation of Greater Washington, as well as the Washington Director of the New Israel Fund. Karen's early career included positions at NARAL Pro Choice America, National Immigration Forum, and Dance Theatre of Harlem. Karen is a part of the Selah national Jewish leadership network, studied in the Change Leadership program through eCornell, and twice was invited to participate in the Jenny McKean Moore writing program at George Washington University. She has had essays, short stories and poems published in Lilith magazine, Washington Post, Sh'ma, Red Wheelbarrow literary magazine, Scribblers on the Roof, Guideposts, Seltzer ezine, and Heartsongs anthology. Karen is currently working on a book describing her experience with illness, caregiving and her life as a new widow, and lives with her children and their big dog in Takoma Park, MD.
