Be our guest!
Core Performance Company specially invites you to the presentation of Life Interrupted at the Asia Society Texas Center. Join us in a pre-reception / pre-show talk with Artistic Director Sue Schroeder and Visual Artist, Nancy Chikaraishi at 7 pm on Saturday February 18.
Life Interrupted is a richly-layered, full-length work of contemporary dance, art and music that draws from the experiences of the U.S. citizens of Japanese descent who were interned on American soil during World War II. While rooted in this specific story, the work ultimately creates a universal experience from historical events. The story has deep resonance for what is happening today across the globe with post-war emigration and the xenophobia that erupts in response.
February 2017 marks the 75th anniversary of President Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 9066 authorizing the creation of the Japanese-American Internment Camps. To commemorate this event, Core Performance Company will perform Life Interrupted on February 17-18 at Asia Society Texas Center in Houston, TX, and on February 23-26 at 7 Stages Theater in Atlanta, GA. Each of these residencies will include community engagement activities developed in collaboration with local partners.
