In this weekend workshop aimed at art students and recent graduates, we will spend two days together diving into the important and often overlooked aspects of creating and maintaining an art practice after graduation.
This workshop is perfect for students who want to hit the ground running and be ready and prepared when they leave art school and for artists within the first few years of graduating who feel they would like some support in maintaining their practice.
During this workshop we will create a supportive environment providing you with the tools, tips and resources you need to begin your art career with confidence. Working together over the course of the weekend, we will explore:
Applications & Opportunities, how to streamline the process and make the application process work for you and your practice.
Developing and maintaining supportive professional relationships, being proactive and creating your own opportunities, the pros and cons of funding and some alternatives.
Developing an exit strategy, knowing where to focus your energies, creating and maintaining space for your practice.
Artist communities, peer mentoring networks & artist led platforms, looking after yourselves and each other, managing expectations and dealing with disapointment.
There will be an hour long lunch break each day so please bring a packed lunch to eat in the centre or the gardens if the weather is nice!
Alternatively, there is a shop and two other cafes within a short walking distance of the Moray At Centre.
Tea, coffee and snacks for breaks will be provided.
