Event Details

F# is a productive, supported, succinct, efficient functional programming language that enables users to write simple code to solve complex problems. It’s good for domain specialists (math-oriented), it’s good for code-oriented-architects (rapid prototyping), and it’s good for developers (especially parallel & async). In this talk we’ll take a look at F# 2.0 as it is today: from its essence as a language, what it’s for and why, to its use as a set of “free tools” for .NET and Visual Studio Shell, and its professional implementation in Visual Studio 2010.

Presenter:

Don Syme is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, Cambridge. He is the designer of the F# language, recently released as F# 2.0. He is also the co-designer and co-implementer of generics for C# and the .NET CLR, now used as a fundamental part of the programming models of F#, C# and Visual Basic

As usual all LIDNUG events are presented via Live Meeting.
