Event description
The Licking County River Round Up is an annual, county-wide river cleanup event in September on the Saturday after Labor Day.

About this event

A Special Event for Everyone! You don't have to get wet or pick up garbage to participate!!!

This annual river clean up brings out hundreds of volunteers who pull tires, shopping carts and mountains of trash from 30 miles of rivers and streams.  Through this amazing community-based conservation effort, a river system that had all but been abandoned, has seen a beautiful rebirth of aquatic and bird life.

Safety and Logistics Briefing  - Important information for group leaders, registration volunteers, and anyone that wants to know what to expect during River Round Up

Are there requirements or an age limit to participate in the event?

Minors must be accompanied by an adult.  This event is not recommended for young children.  See specific clean up locations for more information about age requirements.

To canoe or kayak, participants must have experience paddling on moving water and be at least 10 years of age.  If borrowing a boat from the event committee, 10-15 year olds must be in a boat with their adult.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

For walkers, park at the starting point mentioned for your section (i.e. Everett Park).  For paddlers bringing their own kayak/canoe, drop off personal kayaks/canoes at the starting point for your section (i.e. Riverview Preserve).  Then drive to the ending point for your section to park, (i.e. More Life Church).  For paddlers borrowing a canoe from the River Round Up committee, park at the ending point for your section (i.e. More Life Church).  Transportation will be provided to get all paddlers to the starting point.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

Wear grubby clothes and close-toed shoes.  Water bottles, water and snacks will be provided as well as trash bags and gloves.  Consider bringing a reusable water bottle and a towel to dry off with after the event.  If you sign up for a canoe/kayak section and have your own equipment, please bring it, including a lifejacket.

Can I register my club/team for the event?

Yes, the River Round Up is a great event for scouts, clubs and businesses.  One registration is all that is necessary, but each participant's name and contact info is required to complete registration.

Is it possible for my group to clean up an area of the river not listed on the registration?

Yes! Please contact 740 670-5330 to discuss details.

Are there opportunities to participate without getting in the water?

Yes, there are many on-land tasks including helping with registration, transporting equipment and people, picking up trash from drop offs and getting it to dumpsters, and helping clean up after everyone is off the water.  Look for these options on the registration page.

What should I do when I arrive the day of the event?

Those that registered individually must check in at the registration site.  Only one person, preferably a group leader, should check in a group or family.  If you are part of a group, check in with your group leader.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Call 740 670-5330 or email

Can I update my registration information?

Yes, call 740 670-5330 or email with changes/updates.
