Event description

Description

Do you make picture books? Are you interested in illustrating books for children? With nearly100,000 picture books in the collection, the Free Library of Philadelphia is an incredible resource for authors and illustrators. But that’s only scratching the surface; from art books to special collections, from rare books to pictorial maps, there is so much more that you can access for inspiration. And it’s all free.

-Join this hands-on tour aimed specifically at people interested in making picture books:
-Meet with librarians, curators to get a sense of different departments within the library;
-Learn how to access and request materials;
-Peruse a curated selection from the public collection;
-Meet and hear from how one author-illustrator, K-Fai Steele, has used public libraries for research;
-Leave with a library card if you don’t already have one, and an armload of inspiring books that you’ve checked out.

Space is limited so please register in advance to confirm attendance. We'll meet in the Parkway Central Library lobby at 10:00am on Friday, June 28th
