Event description

Description

This roundtable is part of a series of programmes presented by CLGdotTV in collaboration with local authority think-tank and membership organisation Local Government Intelligence Unit (LGiU).

Children's services is now the number one financial pressure facing local government.

The vast majority of those resources are spent on very few children. However, councils have aspirations for all children in their areas. How can they balance the needs of the few and the many and increase life chances for everyone? How can technology play a role in identifying the most vulnerable but also supporting all families to make childhoods as healthy and enriching as possible?

Watch this space for details of participants coming soon.

LGiU works to strengthen local democracy by providing information, research and other services to over 200 councils, trade unions, universities and other organisations. The scope of the LGiU’s work is as broad as a local authority’s: from housing to social care; from education to local economic growth; from supporting councillors and promoting local democracy to delivering in house training. With eyes on the horizon - what do we want our communities to look like? How will public services meet people’s needs now and in the future - LGiU’s activity is firmly rooted in communities, councils, workplaces, schools and homes.
