LGBTQIA Clinical Training for Mental Health Staff

About the workshop
This training will increase participant’s knowledge to better serve LGBTQIA youth. The curriculum will consist of learning how to engage youth in discussions about sexual and gender identity, how to identify risk factors and provide treatment for youth who are suicidal, engaging in self harming behaviors, or are victims of bullying, and how to provide LGBTQIA affirmative treatment while following best practices. This 4 hour training will assist mental health staff with learning best therapeutic practices to address health, safety and well-being.
About the presenter
Brian Goldman is the Training Manager for Stars Behavioral Health Group, parent company of Valley Star Behavioral Health. He has a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and has worked in residential programs for over seven years, specializing in LGBTQ Foster Youth. Brian was the former Program Director of the Trevor Project, and served as the Manager of Clinical Services for the RISE Initiative with the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center.
Meets requirements for 6 hours of MFTs, LCSWs, LEPs, LPCCS, CEUs. (GHA CEUs are pending approval)
This course meets the qualifications for 6 hours of continuing education credit for licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs), Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Educational Psychologists (LEPs), and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCCs) as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (Casa Pacifica Centers for Children and Families; Provider 2522).
