Event description

Description

The purpose of this session is to provide comprehensive overview of the considerations to be aware of when working with refugee individuals who identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer/questioning (LGBTQ). It will then review the most common behavioral health problems present among those who identify in this spectrum. It is emphasized that behavioral problems do not arise due to a client’s sexual orientation or preference, but rather as a result of external stigma and persecution.

Presenters are Joanne Morales, Catholic Charities and Stella Kiarie, MPH, from the Arizona Department of Health Services.

This session is open to the Phoenix Biomedical Campus community. Have lunch on us and learn more about this important topic.
