- Recognise common challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
- Understand key UK legislation protecting the LGBTQ+ community from discrimination.
- Identify and challenge stereotypes and misconceptions.
- Understand the importance of inclusive language.
- Recognise different forms of discrimination and know how to take appropriate action.
- Provide support to LGBTQ+ colleagues facing challenges.
Key topics covered include:
- Defining LGBTQ+ and understanding different identities.
- Exploring relevant statistics and the importance of LGBTQ+ inclusion.
- Understanding and using pronouns and gender-neutral language correctly.
- Recognising and addressing homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.
- Overview of relevant legislation, including the Equality Act 2010.
- Understanding the concept of 'coming out'.
- Practical steps for taking action and implementing best practices for allyship.
