Event description

Description

A night of all inclusive stand-up comedy starring three LGBTQ superstar comedians with proceeds to benefit the restoration of Utica's historical Uptown Theater for Creative Arts. Our headliner this evening is Jaye McBride who began her career nearly a decade ago right here at the Uptown Theater and has been making waves as one of the most hilarious and hugely influential transgender comedians nationwide!

About Jaye:

Jaye McBride is funny, smart and proudly transgender. Jaye has traveled the world performing stand-up comedy both as a headliner and sharing the stage with comedy greats like Aziz Ansari, Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Norton & Bobcat Goldthwait. Jaye has also been a part of The Boston Comedy Festival, The Maine Comedy Festival and the She Devil Comedy Festival.

In addition to stand-up, Jaye has written, produced and acted in a variety of short films. When not performing on-stage or on-screen Jaye writes "The Comedy Blog" for the Times Union and speaks at colleges all across the country with her lecture about being transgender. Having transitioned in 2007, Jaye is uniquely qualified to talk about awkward first dates, strained family relationships and self-acceptance.

Jaye is originally from Upstate NY but now calls Brooklyn her home.

Also appearing on the show are Albany's Dre Cerbin who is a regular at the Albany FunnyBone and has performed in their wildly popular "Chicks Are Funny!" comedy showcase.

Your host for this evening made her stand-up comedy debut with Comedy CNY in 2017 at the Utica Comedy Cup and has since gone on to perform throughout Upstate New York. JoAnna Elise is one of the youngest, most talented up-and-coming comedians you will see on stage today. Her talent is undeniable and her success in inevitable, come see why!

The doors for this event open and seating begins at 7:00PM. The lights come down and the laughs start at 8:00PM.

Tickets are available online for $20 and UTCA members get tickets for $15. If you're interested in becoming a member and supporting the Uptown Theater for Creative Arts please visit their website at utcany.org.
