Description

LFMP warmly thanks our engaging panel of legal social media experts, who left us wanting more last Tuesday evening. Natalie Alhonte Braga of Baker McKenzie (who also warmly hosted us); Maya Koshaba of Goodwin Procter, and of course, Guy Alvarez of Good2BSocial. They presented in refreshingly non-geeky language and beautifully entertained our many questions. Please go to Guy’s website at http://www.good2bsocial.com to download the Survey of Social Media which was the origin of the whole program. Well done, Ladies and Gent!

For our next program, we have the inestimable Jamie Diaferia and his London ringleader, to wit:

Choosing a Trainwreck for a Spokesperson and Other Crisis Management Cautionary Tales: Why Good People Make Bad Decisions

Infinite Global provides PR and crisis communication services to many of the world’s leading professional services firms. Peter Barrett leads the company’s crisis and special situations practice in the UK, working closely alongside global CEO Jamie Diaferia in New York.

In this presentation, Peter and Jamie argue that law firms must start by understanding (and mitigating) unseen risks. During a crisis, behavioral, cognitive and social group dynamics undermine – sometimes catastrophically – organizations’ ability to prepare for and weather crisis scenarios. Many communications people know how to handle a crisis in a theoretical exercise, but those same people make the kinds of awful decisions in a real crisis that become the foundation for case studies years later. Why do they do that, and how can you prevent it from happening at your firm?

Behavioral science thinking is becoming increasingly accepted in many disciplines and industries, yet the legal sector lags behind. Peter and Jamie will draw lessons and examples from Infinite Global’s soon-to-launch report, which maps these risks and provides a guide for those seeking to enhance their firm’s crisis resilience.

Morgan Lewis will be hosting us for this excellent program, and the date is Thursday, February 28th from the usual 6:30 to 8:30. Please RSVP below!
