Event description
The Lewisham Migration Forum (LMF) regular quarterly meeting - open to all working with and supporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers

About this Event

In early 2018 we at Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network (LRMN) recognised the need to have a space where individuals, communities, businesses, charities, universities, the Council, health providers, and more, could get together and discuss issues, share resources and collaborate on campaigns and initiatives and make the migrant and refugee sector in the borough stronger and more effective.

That is why we decided to set up the Lewisham Migration Forum (LMF), and together with other organisations and hosted by Voluntary Action Lewisham (VAL). We now have over 30 groups represented at the forum who meet regularly on a quarterly basis. The LMF brings together experts, those with lived experience, caseworkers, advocates, campaigners, lawyers, politicians and community groups working with migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Lewisham.

The Forum's aim is to improve practices, share resources and knowledge and offer a chance for practitioners to network and help make the sector stronger. The Forum is open to anyone working with migrant and refugee communities and to migrants, refugees and asylum seekers themselves.

The Forum's priorities for 2020 are two:

- Ensure Lewisham can become a Sanctuary Borough for refugees- Develop an online portal to share resources, information, services and more for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers and organisations working with these communities
