Recognized as one of the nation's best public gardens, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, VA, invites you to explore more than 50 acres of themed gardens, including a Conservatory and Children's Garden; enjoy exciting events, and experience great shopping and dining. The Garden is open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with some extended summer hours. Eventbrite tickets purchased through this page are good any day March 1 - November 21, 2018.

Your regular daily admission ticket includes most special events! These include M&T Bank Butterflies LIVE!, Origami in the Garden, Flowers After 5, Fidos After 5, and more. Admission also includes WaterPlay and daily drop-in programs in the Children's Garden. Drop-in programs run three days a week, April through October ,and seven days a week, June through August. If you plan to visit more than once a year, becoming a Garden Member may be your best value.


Tickets are good for any regular daily admission -- (does not include Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights).

The Garden is open rain or shine and closed only for severe inclement weather (no refunds). Any weather-related closings are posted on the website and Facebook.

1. Print your Eventbrite ticket or have the ticket on your smartphone.

2. Come to the Visitors Center and show ticket at the admissions desk for check-in.*

3. After check-in, you're good to go! Admissions will hand you a sticker and you can proceed to the gardens.

*PLEASE NOTE: If you're visiting during high-volume times, there may be a line at the admissions desk.

Origami in the Garden

Friday, April 13 – Sunday, September 30, 2018
Daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (with some extended evening hours on Flowers After 5 nights)

Origami in the Garden is an exhibition of metal outdoor sculpture inspired by the art of paper folding. Santa Fe artist Kevin Box collaborates with his wife, Jennifer Box and origami masters Robert J. Lang, Te Jui Fu, Michael G. LaFosse and Richard L. Alexander to celebrate the art of origami in museum quality sculpture and educational programming.

A Million Blooms (March 31 - June 1, 2018)

Daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Garden’s celebration of spring! Events throughout the season include Butterflies LIVE!, Mother’s Day Weekend, Spring PlantFest (formerly Spring Plant Sale) and plant shows and activities in the Children’s Garden.

M&T Bank Butterflies LIVE! ( April 6 – October 14, 2018)

Daily 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Experience the wonderful world of butterflies! Butterflies LIVE! is an indoor exhibit in the Conservatory and is geared for all ages. Get up close and personal as hundreds of tropical butterflies feed, flutter and take flight all around you. Explore their origins, preferred habitats and life-cycles.

Mother’s Day Weekend

May 11, 12 & 13, 2018

A three-day weekend with many opportunities to honor and spend time with mom. Enjoy the popular Butterflies LIVE! exhibit, shopping, and dining, plus these activities:
The long weekend kicks off Friday, May 11 with National Public Gardens Day (more info below).
On Saturday, May 12, treat your mom to an experience she’ll love, give her a tour of A Million Blooms.
Sunday, May 13 is the popular Mother’s Day concert (1 – 4 p.m.). Food available for purchase in front of Bloemendaal House. Guests are also welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs but no outside food or beverage. Activities in the Children’s Garden include “make-and-takes” for mom (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

Flowers After 5 (5-9 p.m., June through mid-September)

Relax on summer evenings; stroll through the gardens; enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining and shopping.

Fidos After 5 Bring your leashed dog to the Garden on select Thursday nights (the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, June - mid-September, 5 – 9 p.m.)

The Garden partners with the Richmond SPCA and leashed pets are allowed during Flowers After 5 on these special nights only.

Father’s Day Weekend

June 16 & 17, 2018, 1-4 p.m.
Regular Garden admission
Enjoy a weekend of opportunities to honor and spend time with dad. Visit the popular Butterflies LIVE! exhibit, plus these activities: On Saturday, have fun with crafts and activities in the Children’s Garden. (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) On Sunday, enjoy a free concert. Food available for purchase.

Regular Garden admission
Live music, local food, and beer for purchase; games and prizes. Bring canned goods to benefit FeedMore. Sponsored by Meriwether Godsey.

Goblins & Gourds

Regular Garden admission
Harvest celebration with live music, pumpkin decorating and good green fun in the Children’s Garden.


  • Tickets can be used any day for regular admission. (We are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day).
  • Children (under 3) and Members are free!
  • Tickets are non-refundable and Garden member tickets are non-transferable.
  • Garden Members must be prepared to show member ID cards.
  • You must have a printed ticket or be prepared to show the ticket on your phone or electronic device.
  • Parking is free, however, please be aware that parking is limited.
  • Dogs are only allowed on select nights. See Fidos After 5 for more information.
  • WaterPlay is open seasonally, and weather permitting. Please note WaterPlay opens at 1 p.m. until school gets out (June 8th.) See the full WaterPlay schedule.
  • Outside food and other items may not be brought into the Garden. See guidelines for planning your visit.
