About this event

This ticket is for non-members only. Members, you do not need a ticket, just bring your membership card to scan. Children under 3 do not need a ticket. Eventbrite tickets purchased through this page are good any day now through October 31, 2021. Tickets are not valid July 4 or September 6, our free admissions days, which are walk-up only. This ticket does not include Wednesdays Alfresco or Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights.

Fully vaccinated guests can enjoy the Garden inside and outside without wearing a mask or physically distancing. For those who are not fully vaccinated, masks are required indoors at all times and outdoors when 6-foot social distancing is not possible. Exceptions: children under age 5 and those with medical conditions (if so, please physically distance at all times for the safety of all). Please read our measures in place for your safety.

Recognized as one of the nation's best public gardens, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, VA, invites you to explore more than 50 acres of themed gardens, including a Conservatory and Children's Garden; enjoy exciting events, and experience great shopping and dining. The Garden is open daily 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays in summer for Fidos After 5 and Flowers After 5.

If you plan to visit more than once a year, becoming a Garden Member may be your best value.

WEATHER POLICY

The Garden is open rain or shine and closed only for severe inclement weather (no refunds). Any weather-related closings are posted on the website and Facebook.

Flowers After 5 is also rain or shine; no refunds. In cases of hazardous weather, the event would be canceled. It’s summertime in Richmond, so we monitor the weather very closely and if there is a high likelihood of strong storms during Flowers After 5, we make the decision at noon whether or not to cancel, based on the forecast. We post the information as quickly as possible to the website and social media; it’s always a good idea to check before you come!

Online food orders: There are no refunds or cancellations on online food orders. Food ordered online will be available for pick-up regardless of the weather.

1. Print your Eventbrite ticket or pull up the QR code of your ticket on your smartphone.

2. Come to the Visitors Center and show your ticket at the admissions desk for check-in.*

3. After check-in, you're good to go!

Throughout the seasons look for educational displays highlighting native plants and insects, water, ephemeral art, and much more. Enjoy the sweet sounds of nature. Feel the gentle breezes take flight through the trees. Breathe deeply in the fresh forest air. Smell newly opened blooms and earthy ferns. Come away feeling restored, and somehow healed with a deep understanding of the vital connection between ourselves and the natural world.

The Secret Lives of Bugs -- Native Invertebrate Micro Exhibit

Have you ever wondered what a baby dragonfly looks like? Or where butterflies go in the rain? Visit Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden to learn the answers to these questions and more, as we reveal the secret lives of bugs!

Flowers After 5 (June through mid-September)Relax on summer evenings; stroll through the gardens; enjoy live music, wine and beer, dining and shopping. See the band line-up on our website!

Fidos After 5 (The second and fourth Thursdays of each month, June through September).

The Garden partners with the Richmond SPCA and leashed pets are allowed during Flowers After 5 on these special nights only. See the band line-up on our website!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Tickets can be used any day for regular admission. (We are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). 
  • Wednesdays Alfresco is a separately ticketed event and requires a different ticket.
  • Children (under 3) and Members are free! Members, you do not need a ticket.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • You must have a printed ticket or be prepared to show the ticket on your phone or electronic device.
  • Parking is free, however, please be aware that parking is limited. 
  • Unfortunately, due to COVID, we are unable to provide wheelchairs or strollers during this time. Please feel free to bring your own wheelchair or stroller. Learn about accessibility regarding pathways, amenities and more.
  • Due to COVID M&T Bank Butterflies LIVE! is closed this year.
  • Dogs are only allowed on select nights. See Fidos After 5 for more information. 
  • Outside food and other items may not be brought into the Garden. See guidelines for planning your visit
  • The Robins Tea House is open to order in person or pick up your online orders.
  • WaterPlay is offline for the season due to COVID-19 safety measures and planned work in that area.
