Description

TROPI CARILLO | Afro-Tropical/Taino

Tropi Corillo was formed in the summer of 2014 with a common goal to create a unique urban sound deeply rooted in Afro-Tropical rhythms. It’s members came together from every end of Los Angeles to share their collective experience with the world through their music. El Tropi Corillo De Los Ángeles, honors their lineage to the The Taíno people, who were among the indigenous people of the Caribbean and Florida who at the time of European contact in the late15th century were the principal inhabitants of most of Cuba, Trinidad, Jamaica, Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Rico. They also celebrate the origins of African rhythms by fusing sounds from Colombia (Cumbia), Puerto Rico (Bomba) and other regions of Taíno America. Tropi Corillo aspires to preserve Afro-Tropical music and culture by honoring their roots as they write innovative music that will transcend those traditions into today’s times. El Tropi Corillo would like to take their music to all continents, but most importantly make people dance and have a good time.

Be sure to check out the Kidzone, our community partners and local food and beverage vendors at every concert. Join us on the Levitt LA lawn to experience the best in free entertainment under the stars.
