Leveraging the Writing Conference to improve writing every day and everyday writing! The power of choice and the importance of purpose and audience.
v Practice: Writing based on short informational text. Participants will engage in a close reading of a short informational text. ( Sub-headings that make us think AND no sub-headings or vignettes )
Model strategy for connecting ideas within these types of informational texts
Participants produce a response to the reading

v Breakouts: Practice model conferences with peers
Focus: Share Fair – Culminating Activity
Participants have been collecting and reflecting on their “Terrific Three” across the year.
For the final session, participants will be asked to create an artifact that reflects how each student has grown over the course of the year as a writer AND what instructional practices supported the growth.
This can take any format (written, graphic, digital etc.)
Participants will reflect on their personal growth as a teacher of writing and make individual plans for own professional growth.
