Come help us celebrate the launch of the UIndy Department of Art & Design's Hullabaloo Press with a series of letterpress experiences:
The Letterpress Hullabaloo is an invitational exhibition of contemporary printers & bookmakers looking at the continuing practice and historical context of letterpress. Printers from around the United States were invited to display a collection of their letterpress work. These printers were selected for their Indianapolis connections, preservation of historical practices, contemporary innovations, and/or unique experiences/techniques. January 17th- February 10th in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Gallery.
The gallery reception will be from 4 to 6pm and includes live printing and book binding demonstrations and a cash only print sale featuring the Hullabaloo Printers/Artists. Come see, buy, and make a letterpress print!
And if that is not enough...
At 5:30pm guest lecturer, Erin Beckloff, co-director of Pressing On: The Letterpress Documentary, will be discussing her film, the process and printers involved, and will share trailers of the film in anticipation of the film's release. The lecture will be in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Lecture Hall 115. Seating is limited.
