Event description

Description

Join us for our Salon Series, where Letterform Archive staff invite you to experience materials related to a specific topic of interest to the Collection.

This month, we take a look at the Archive's holdings of quintessentially '90s design. A decade characterized by experimentation and bold graphic expression, the 1990s represented a major turning point in the industry. Designers were familiarizing themselves with revolutionary technology — the first Apple Macintosh computer was introduced in 1984, and Photoshop 1.0 followed in 1990 — and while the growing pains are often evident, the quirks and hiccups have come to define a style all their own.

We'll explore works by influential designers of the time like April Greiman, Paula Scher, Wolfgang Weingart, and Neville Brody, as well as a selection of seminal periodicals like Ray Gun, Emigre, and FUSE.

Doors at 6:00pm. Presentation begins promptly at 6:30pm.
