Letter to My Loved Ones: An End-of-Life Planning Workshop
Have you been asked to be the executor or health care advocate for a family member or friend? Are you worried about the burden your own passing may be on your loved ones? Does getting your affairs in order make you anxious because you don’t know where to start? Harvest United Methodist Church is sponsoring a workshop on end-of-life issues. We are bringing in experts to guide us on various aspects pertaining to this topic and the goal is to have your plan in place by the end of the 6 weeks.
Week 1, January 11:
Introduction by Andrew Faber, MD, Internist, Lakewood Ranch Hospital
- Capturing your voice and recording autobiographical information presented by Chris Kohatsu, Food Writer and Travel Journalist
Week 2, January 18:
Advanced Directives: Making Healthcare End-of-Life Choices presented by Cathy Emmett, PhD, ARNP, ACHPN
Week 3, January 25:
Planning for the Week After a Death: Q & A with Jon McArdle, Family Service Counselor, Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home
Week 4, February 1:
- Planning a Funeral/Memorial Service: A Pastor’s Perspective presented by Rev. Michael Pestel, Harvest United Methodist Church
Week 5, February 8:
Getting your Financial Life in Order: A Financial Planning Perspective presented by Alan Irving, Investment Advisor, Irving Financial Group
Week 6, February 15:
Are your Legal Documents in Place? An Estate Lawyer’s Perspective presented by H. Greg Lee, P.A., Attorney at Law
This group is not limited to seniors, it is open to all age groups and anyone of any faith is invited to attend. If you would like a copy of our planning booklet, there will be a $5 charge collected at the event to cover the cost of printing the booklet. To register for this event, please select the January 11th date and sign-up for your free ticket. You don't need to register for each date, just the first night. If you would prefer not to register with Eventbrite, you may sign up in person at Harvest's Hub 1, beginning in December.
