Description

What’s the difference between syrup, a cordial and an oyxmel? Take this class to find out! We’ll discuss how to make each one, a few fun recipes and when to use them. We'll also cover the history of the Elder shrub and the potent immunity boosting constituents contained in its flowers and berries! Then we’ll make a BIG batch of Elderberry Syrup that each person can take a sample of for home. Just in time for the cold season!

More information about the teacher and how to contact her:

Claire Porter, BS

Born from a green thumb (her mother grew roses when they lived in Salem, Oregon), plants have always had a special place in Claire’s heart. Years later, her interest in native ecosystems blossomed while restoring maritime chaparral habitats for California State Parks in Big Sur and studying at California State University, Monterey Bay, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Ecology. Here in the Pacific Northwest, Claire continues to expand her knowledge base, integrating her experience in restoration science with Ayurvedic, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western herbal disciplines. Claire currently serves as Events and Internship Coordinator for The Herb Shoppe. If you are interested in learning more about the internship program, email her at internships.ths@gmail.com and if you’d like to teach a class or hold a workshop, email her at events.ths@gmail.com.
