Let's make education a right. Let's help deserving scholars avoid to go on forced LOA.
Friday, March 29, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM (EDT)
We can all help in our own little way. Let's make education possible by helping deserving scholars at the University of the Philippines. Please help us prevent stories like that of Kristel Tejada, the U.P. student who unfortunately took her life because of the inability to pay tuition.
Tragically, in Kristel's case, she only needed $250 (PHP10,000) to pay her tuition for one semester.
Tuition at U.P. is based on the income bracket of the student's family. For the U.P. Diliman, Los Baños and Manila campuses, students with an annual family income of:
Over P1,000,000 – pays P1,500 per unit;
Between P1,000,000 and P500,001 – pays P1,000 per unit;
Between P500,000 and P250,001 – pays P600 per unit;
Between P250,000 and P135,001 – pays P300 per unit;
Between P135,000 and P80,001 – receives free tuition; and
Less than P80,000 – receives free tuition plus P12,000 per semester stipend.
There are currently 50 other students at U.P. Manila that are in the same situation as Kristel that need help.
Join us on March 29, 2013 (Friday) for drinks at La Biblioteca, 7pm.
80% of proceeds will go towards helping Kristel's siblings and other deserving scholars at U.P. Manila fund their education and continue their studies. The 20% goes to the cost of the drinks.
Early Enrollment & Scholar - includes 1 drink - $20
Cum Laude - includes 2 drinks - $100
Magna Cum Laude - 3 drinks - (Enough to send a scholar for 1 sem) - $300
Can’t attend or busy? Consider being a sponsor by donating any amount or forward to friends who you think
would want to help out.
100% will go towards helping the scholar.
At U.P., we were taught about social responsibility. Thank you U.P. for helping us get to where we are now. This event is open to all who simply want to give something back and help others (Hello Atenistas out there!). Many thanks in advance to those who will be joining us and to those who will be supporting this project.
Should you wish to give a pledge of any amount, help out in some way, have any questions about the event or want to know how to sponsor a U.P. scholar: please contact Maria Luisa Schwartz at 347-248-1639.
