Event description

Description

You can experience “a piece” of local Belgian culture, the Belgian pie! In this workshop, Door County native and Belgian pie expert Gina Guth of The Flour Pot, will reveal the history behind the pastry. Students will learn how to make several kinds of Belgian pies in a hands-on setting. Students should come prepared to feast on the pies during class. No experience is necessary, and all levels are welcome. The Belgian pie is a sweet raised-dough crust that can be filled with different things. Fillings typically consist of either a baked-rice mixture similar to rice pudding topped with whipping cream, or a fruit center of prunes, apples, or raisins with a cheesecake-like topping made from blended cottage cheese.
