Description
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics would like to invite you to join us the morning of July 20, 2018 for the Special Olympics 50th Anniversary Commemorative Run taking place in Chicago, IL. This 4 mile run will travel along the Chicago Park District’s bike path that runs along Lake Michigan and passes landmarks such as the Chicago Police Memorial, McCormack Place and a number of scenic beaches and harbors. The Commemorative Run will conclude by participants having the opportunity to run across Solider Field as we deliver the Flame of Hope to the Eternal Flame ceremony.
Registration for the LETR Commemorative Run is open to law enforcement, Special Olympics athletes and the public. Registration is $75 and participants who register prior to June 30 are guaranteed a Commemorative Run Shirt. Those who register after that deadline will receive a shirt on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants can choose to register for the entire 4 mile route or join us for the last 2 miles (approximate).
The Commemorative Run is a structured event similar to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Final Leg. Participants will run in formation at a 15 minute mile pace (4 miles per hour)and will be led by a law enforcement officer and Special Olympics athlete carrying the Flame of Hope.
Join us as we 'Pack the Path' for the athletes of Special Olympics!
