The Federal Bar Association Civil Rights Law Section, in conjunction with the Utah Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Utah Attorney General's Office and the ACLU of Utah, presents:

Let them Speak Cake: Expansion of Speech including Masterpiece Cake

Morning Light Bites Panel: Trends in Qualified Immunity Post-Pearson - Panelists: Chief Judge David Nuffer; Meb Anderson, Assistant Attorney General, who wrote the winning brief to the trial court in Pearson v. Callahan; Aaron Nielson, BYU Law Professor, who has researched and published on post-Pearson trends; Karra Porter, President of Christensen & Jensen, who has litigated civil rights cases extensively on behalf of plaintiffs.

A First Course on the First Amendment: What is "Speech?" - Panelists: RonNell Jones, U of U Law Professor, who teaches First Amendment and the Media, Kyle Kaiser, Assistant Attorney General, counsel on the recent "AG Gag" case; John Mejia, ACLU of Utah Legal Director; FBA National Civil Rights Chair, Wylie Stecklow.

Entree - KEYNOTE: Fred Yarger, Colorado Solicitor General, will present on his recent argument to the U.S. Supreme Court in Masterpiece Cake. General Yarger will show clips from oral argument and share his insights on the novel First Amendment issues Masterpiece Cake presents and how the Court may rule.

3.5 CLE credit hours will be offered. Light breakfast and lunch included.
