Let Patients Help! - in healthcare and research

Welcome to an interactive workshop at Karolinska Institutet on innovative and cutting-edge ways to improve healthcare and research.
We are proud to host a workshop in which:

  • e-Patient Dave will talk about his book “Let Patients Help!” and give us his view on why and how patients should be allowed to engage more in their care.
  • Olga Sabirova Höjerström from Experio Lab will demonstrate their “empathy kit” in which you can temporaily experience how it is being a patient. The “Empathy kit” consists of a suit allowing you to experience how it feels to be 30 years older, with stiff joints, bad eyesight and hard of hearing. There is also equipment for experiencing Parkinson’s disease, tinnitus and different eye conditions.
  • We will all engage in discussions on How can patients help make research better
  • and literally write a new chapter in patient-focused research
  • Moderators Pär Höglund, MD, PhD (research leader in value networks and patient engagement, and Sara Riggare PhD (student on patient empowerment by IT, optimistic realist with Parkinson's, ) will guide us through this exciting workshop
The workshop will primarily be in English.
Seating is limited.
This workshop is a part of the project Dagens Patient  ( a project geared towards active selfcare for patients with chronic diseases. The workshop is a collaboration between Karolinska Institutet, LIME (Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics), KI and SHIFT - Swedish Health Ideas for Tomorrow (
