Lesley Byrne is an international, humanitarian aid consultant in sustainable development for food and water security.  For the past ten years, Lesley’s work has taken her all over the world, in very harsh conditions, with extensive on-going projects in Afghanistan, Jordan, Kenya and Cambodia.  She teaches and trains farmers, students and local communities in permaculture, organic gardening, agroforestry and agroecology, with an emphasis on whole systems designs including soil fertility, water management and water harvesting, perennial polyculture, IPM, nutrition, biodiversity and multifunctional gardens, that provide well beyond the conventional Western garden models, into a more dynamic and resilient ecosystems for all life.

Treehaven's 1,400 acres of forest and wetland offers public programs in canoeing, no-trace camping and backpacking, wolf studies, orienteering, snowshoeing, snowshoe making, cross-country skiing, leadership development, GIS/GPS, survival skills, nature photography and more! To be certified through Travel Green Wisconsin, all participants must achieve at least 30 points on the Travel Green Wisconsin checklist.
