Event description

Description

Please join us for a local Lesbians Who Tech + Allies meetup!

Our City Director Nina is heading off to Spain - on her bicycle! Join us on the first part of the route for a ride down to Potsdam!

We'll follow the R1 cycling route (http://r1-radweginfo.de/r1-radweg-deutschland-brandenburg-berlin.php).
First we'll cycle down the Strasse des 17. Juni to Grunewald where we'll join the R1. The route goes through the Grunewald on paved bike lanes, along the Havel and Wannsee, all the way to the Glinicker Bruecke. From there we'll continue to Potsdam and can have lunch together (location to be announced, self-catering). While Nina continues south we can cycle back to Berlin or, if we ate too much, take the S-Bahn ;-)

The route from the Brandenburger Gate to Potsdam is about 35km one way and includes some light up and downs. It's paved and suitable for any bike - from racing to trekking to mountain bike. Please bring your own bike and supplies, we do not have rental bikes. Most important: Don't forget to bring water, some money for lunch/snacks and a layer to put on during lunch when cooling down!

This is Ninas first day of her 28 day long ride. We'll take it easy, everyone and every bike is welcome!

We adhere to the Berlin Code of Conduct (http://berlincodeofconduct.org/) and appreciate your support in working towards a better community.

You can cycle to the Brandenburger Gate or take the S-Bahn S1, S2, S25, S26. You can also take the train to Potsdamer Platz, from there it's just a short cycle to the Brandenburger Gate.

We’re looking forward to building more connections across our community and continuing to collect input on the kinds of events you’d like to see over the summer and into the fall.

About Lesbians Who Tech + Allies

Lesbians Who Tech + Allies is the largest LGBTQ technology community in the world -- committed to visibility, intersectionality, and changing the face of technology. The 40,000 non-binary, LGBTQ women, queer women of color (and our allies) in tech who make up our community come from every background and live in over 40+ cities worldwide. Over 5,000 women and non-binary people in tech attend our San Francisco Summit, making us the largest professional LGBTQ event in the world and the largest event for women in tech in California. Our programmatic work includes a coding scholarship for non-binary and LGBTQ women called the Edie Windsor Coding Scholarship Fund, a mentoring program, Bring a Lesbian to Work Day, and a leadership program -- #LWTSQUAD -- focused on supporting our members as they move into senior leadership roles and onto corporate boards. We're not just creating communities; we're pushing the tech sector to be more inclusive and changing the face of the entire tech industry.
