On April 29, Boston-based Les Sampou Quartet will present an evocative set of American Songbook vocal favorites in the style of such legendaries as Ella Fitzgerald and Diana Krall, rollicking Blues from the early and mid-1900s, and also feature jazz instrumentals performed by the highly-talented musicians joining together for this very special show. On drums is Davide Lo Cascio, a graduate in Jazz studies of the Conservatory of Ferrara, Italy. Davide, a much sought after session player, has studied with Jazz masters Steve Wilkes, Jeff Ballard, Kenwood Dennard and Billy Kilson. Davide has toured internationally and has tracked on numerous recording projects. He is presently an Assistant Professor for Drums & Ensembles at Berklee College of Music clinics Italy. On keyboards/piano is Hayoung Lyou. Hayoung is a Boston-based pianist who is an alum of Berklee College of Music and presently doing graduated study at New England Conservatory in Jazz and World music. On bass: Soso Gelovani currently studies at Berklee College of Music where he has received the Most Improved Bassist Award. Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Soso was surrounded by rich Georgian folk music since childhood. Gelovani studied classical piano began gigging at 18 and continues to perform internationally. He is a versatile musician performing jazz, funk, reggae, electronic to contemporary classical. Les Sampou, on vocals, is an international touring, Rounder Records recording artist from Boston. Les has produced six albums of original material, is presently songwriting for TV/Film, and performs select shows with her Jazz/Blues band.
