The German Consulate General Presents:
“Boundary Breaker of Music” (Deutschlandradio Kultur) Leon Gurvitch, Germany-based pianist & composer, leans hard in the classical direction. But the jazz element is there, along with world music influences and European folkloric themes as well as on his solo piano album “Remember Me”.
In 2011 he conducted the German premiere of the opera "Les Enfants Terribles" by Philip Glass. Leon Gurvitch was nominated for “Musician of the Year” at the Hamburg Music Awards in 2015. In 2016 he was “Artist-in-Residence” at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, New York City and in 2017 he will celebrate his debut at Carnegie Hall.
Leon Gurvitch has composed more than 300 works. He has given concerts in the USA, France, the Netherlands, Finland, Israel, Swiss, Czech Republic, Poland and Russia. Works by Leon Gurvitch have been performed at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC, at Brussels’s Palais des Beaux-Arts, at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky-Conservatory, in Paris’ Cité des Arts, and Laeiszhalle Hamburg.
