Description

Lente Móvil presents "Identity vs Stereotypes”at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), a multi-media event that integrates photography, poetry, discussion, and gastronomy to eliminate stereotypes and give voice to cultural communities about the nuance of identity in the United States. Lente Movil takes place on Thursday, November 15th from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the Atrium of PNCA and admission is free.

Lente Móvil’s mission is to create multi-disciplinary arts experiences to generate a paradigm shift in social and political attitudes that impact Latino communities in the United States.

The curated panel discussion and lecture "Identity vs Stereotypes-Redefining Our Collective Individualism" features the following perspectives by the following arts, academia, and social justice leaders:

Helen Daltoso, Director of Grants of Regional Arts & Culture Council. Elliott Young, Ph.D., Professor of History at Lewis & Clark College. Linda Castillo, MS, Immigrant and Refugee Integration, Equity in Practice, New Portlanders Program, Chair of the Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs. Alejandra Arias Sevilla, Artist and Student at PNCA, Patricia Vazquez, Community Leader, Activist, Educator, Cultural Worker and Artist.

Accompanying the evening will be Latino poets whose original work will respond and speak to the powerful interconnections of the concepts
Identity & Stereotype and how these two powerful ideas have influenced their life experiences. Thank you to Luna Flores, Victor Maldonado, Vicky Falcon and Ernesto Alonso Contreras for taking the time to create poems and share their experiences!
