Event description

Description

Set on a 21st century Italian university, our realization of this popular and tune-filled opera tests the modern-day "magic potion" remedies that inundate internet and television advertising, as well as the "placebo effect" that makes them actually sometimes seem to work. Lovesick barista Nemorino tries unsuccessfully to get the attentions of the popular and witty Adina. In comes guest lecturer Dr. Dulcamara, much like present-day Dr. Oz, with a remedy to fix about any ailment. Nemorino gives it a try!

In celebration of Women's History Month, this opera production will be presented in conjunction with the Marian Anderson Campaign. Anderson, an acclaimed and decorated contralto, was the first African-American singer invited to perform with the Metropolitan Opera. This event will feature an inside look on the life of Marian Anderson and her significant social and political impact.

Prices: $25 general, $15 senior and children
