Description

As the final event in a three part series on the 2018 legislative session, Civil Beat hosts Civil Café: Legislative Wrap-Up 2018 in partnership with Common Cause Hawaii. This panel discussion moderated by Civil Beat’s politics and opinions editor, Chad Blair, will recap the highs and lows of this year's session. Our panelists will discuss bills that passed, others that did not and delve into the reasons why.

Panelists:

  • Chad Blair, Civil Beat (Moderator)

  • Senator J. Kalani English

  • Speaker Scott Saiki

  • Corie Tanida, Common Cause

  • Courtney Teague, Civil Beat

In case you missed our previous events, you can view the archived videos on Civil Beat’s YouTube page: Legislative Preview and Legislative Update. And based on your feedback from those discussions, we’ve extended this final panel an extra 30 minutes to address your questions and concerns. So bring your lunch and join us at the Hawaii State Capitol, Room 329. We’ll provide complimentary coffee and water, as well as some cookies for dessert.

In the meantime, we’d also like to hear your thoughts about the issues that are important to you! Please submit your questions using this form by Friday, April 27, and we’ll use them to develop the final program.

There are a limited number of metered parking stalls in the State Capitol underground parking garage (accessible via Miller Street off of Punchbowl Street). For maps and directions to the Capitol, please visit https://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/mapsdirectories.aspx.

This event is free and open to the public, but please RSVP in advance. The event will not be live streamed but will be recorded and posted on Civil Beat's YouTube page shortly after the event.

If you require special assistance or auxiliary aids and/or services (i.e., sign language interpreter or wheelchair accessibility), please contact Common Cause Hawaii at (808) 275-6275 or email your request for an interpreter to hawaii@commoncause.org at least 4 business days prior to the event.

By registering for this event, you'll receive a subscription to Civil Beat's free e-newsletter, the Morning Beat. And don't worry, we hate spam too! You can unsubscribe any time by clicking the link at the bottom of each email.
