About this Event
Educating the next generation of advocates is core to our values as a profession and chapter. Each year, we host our annual Legislative Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD) day which brings together hundreds of social work students and professionals from across the state virtually.
LEAD is designed to further social workers’ knowledge of the legislative process, grassroots advocacy, and major current statewide policy initiatives. Attendees hear from an array of passionate speakers from elected officials, the government sector, community organizers, and advocates.
This year's events will be held virtually and through a serious of trainings. These webinars are focused on connecting students and professionals with their elected officials and community organizers. All events will be held viturally and there is a cost to attend. Please find the agenda for the legislative session below:
January 11th, 2021: The State of the State Address (Welcome Webinar with overview of the legislative process in Arizona) --No Time Indicated as this will be pre-recorded and sent out only to those registered for the event.
January 15th, 2021: 12pm-1pm Zoom Webinar with a training on the Arizona State Budget Process and recap of the first week of session
January 29th, 2021: 12-1pm Zoom Meeting with current elected officials and staff
February 12th, 2021: 12-1pm Zoom Meeting with Federal Delegation and staff
March 3rd and 4th, 2021: Virtual committee hearings starting at 9am, bill updates on NASW Arizona priorities, direct advocacy opportunities to your elected officials, meetings with elected officials and staff.
You do not need to attend all events. However, all events are held to prepare for the March 3rd and 4th virtual advocacy and meetings with elected officials.
