About this event
We invite advocates from chapters of The Arc across Maryland to join us via Zoom on January 12th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, for our annual Advocacy Training event!
On the afternoon of the 12th, join The Arc Maryland to brush up on your advocacy skills, learn about the new House and Senate protocols for the 2022 session, discuss priority legislation of The Arc, and receive tips on how to best communicate with the legislative body! This training event is free to attend, and an opportunity you don't want to miss!
The following day, January 13th, is The Arc's Legislative Calendar Day, where chapters of The Arc across Maryland have historically united to raise awareness and advocate for the rights and wellbeing of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The calendar contains stories of Marylanders supported by chapters of The Arc, holidays and legislative events throughout the year, and birthdays of their fellow representatives!
For over three decades, chapters of The Arc have hand-delivered copies of The Arc’s Legislative Calendar with their members on the second day of session. Unfortunately, due to the rising Covid case numbers in Maryland, we are unable to host an in-person calendar day event this year. Instead, chapters of The Arc are asked to schedule virtual meetings with their representatives on Calendar Day, Thursday, January 13, 2022. The Arc Maryland staff and our dedicated volunteers will ensure the Calendar Day delivery tradition continues and all legislators will receive their copies of the calendar on this same day!
