Event description

Description

Join us for an evening at the largest Masonic Temple in the world — Detroit's Masonic Temple.

Built in 1926, the towering Gothic-style temple has over 1,000 rooms, including three theaters, a Scottish Rites cathedral, a 17,500 square foot drill hall, two ballrooms, 16 bowling lanes, and a swimming pool.

We'll celebrate a night of wonder and well-kept secrets in one of the Temple's eight symbolically-decorated Lodge Rooms. A mason will be on hand to share aspects of the Temple's history and lore while Dylan Thuras, Atlas Obscura co-founder and co-author of Atlas Obscura: An Explorer’s Guide to the World’s Hidden Wonders, will highlight some of the most curious and awe-inspiring locations featured in the book (from the secret apartment at the top of the Eiffel Tower to the World’s Quietest Room). Your ticket price includes a first edition of the newly released Atlas ObscuraExplorer’s Journal. Pages Bookshop will host an on-site Atlas Obscura book signing with Dylan, and will be selling copies of both Atlas Obscura 2018 calendars as well.

Refreshments (snacks and a cash bar) will be served. Join us!
