Event description

Description

Learn how to legally protect your startup from idea to launch.

As part of our efforts to help students start and grow companies, the Coleman Entrepreneurship Center offers series of Startup Advising Workshops (SAW) throughout the quarter. These workshops focus on addressing initial startup questions, and connecting students to the resources they need. The workshops are designed to be an important first step in working with the Center.

Clifford Helm, Attorney, Helm Business Law

Cliff Helm is the sole attorney at Helm Business Law. His practice works with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and social enterprises from their initial startup stages through expansion. He also volunteers with the Law Project, working with community organizations to help establish Community Benefits Agreements related to new developments in the community. Cliff graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was an active participant in Michigan’s entrepreneurship culture as a student-attorney for small businesses in the Detroit Metropolitan Area.

Sarah Baum, Director of Croak Student Legal Services at DePaul

Croak Student Legal Services (CSLS) provides high quality, free and confidential legal advice to DePaul students. Sarah Baum, Director, graduated from DePaul University College of Law, and was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 2008. Prior to joining CSLS, Sarah worked at the Legal Assistance Foundation (LAF), which provides free civil legal services to low-income individuals and other vulnerable groups. Through her experience with LAF, Sarah brings a substantive knowledge in a wide variety of legal issues to CSLS. Sarah is skilled at conveying legal advice and information in a clear, concise manner that student-clients can easily understand. Sarah demonstrates our Vincentian values by serving others with compassion and respect, especially in times of need.
