A meetup for the people who make sure the work gets done
Are you a digital project manager, scrum master, product owner, or traffic manager? Maybe even an account manager? Do you make schedules, plan releases, stick post-it notes to things, or even just generally make sure things get delivered on time and to spec? If so, this meetup is for you.
At our last meetup, we discussed tools - how to choose them, how to evaluate them, and how to integrate them to make sure you get the most value out of them. We had some great discussions (and for those of you who were there, yes, we are still finding stickers all over the place).
This time we'll be hearing from Andy Burgin, leader of the Leeds DevOps meetup group. Andy will be presenting his talk "6 Steps from a Problem Team to Product Team". which will be followed up by a panel discussion about methodologies in different companies and delivery environments. Andy will also be joining the panel, along with Imogen Lassen, Client Partner at Delete Agency, and David Hunter, Programme Manager at Crisp Thinking.
Arrive for 6:30, we'll be starting by 7pm and finishing up by 9pm, though we can continue the conversation nearby at The Social, if you're interested!
6 Steps from Problem Team to Product Team
Andy will be talking about his career change from a studio manager coordinating the workload for a team of 35 in a waterfall approach, to his current technical role heading an autonomous team of 5 who support and enhance one of the Data tribes products at SkyBet in an agile environment.
The "DatOps" team at SkyBet was initially was seen as a support team for the "Big Data" platform, helping with day-to-day problem resolution. The talk will focus on 6 steps the team took to transform themselves into a team that not only supports, but one that develops, builds and enhances the features and capabilities of the platform.
To close, Andy will retrospectively explain what he has learned from his career change. He'll also explain what lessons can be applied from his new role to those tasked with getting stuff done in any digital delivery role.
Panel discussion - Methodology Madness
Agency Agile? In-house waterfall projects? Scrum account management? Kanban product management? What methodologies do you use? What works, what doesn't, what are you interested in trying?
Our panel represent different companies with different stakeholders, different needs, and different resources. One thing they all have in common is the need to put structure around their delivery processes, and we'll be discussing the popular methodologies and how we apply them in the real world.
