About this event
Join U.S. Green Building Council President and CEO, Peter Templeton, USGBC organizational and community leaders, members of the LEED Steering Committee and LEED technical staff including Melissa Baker, senior vice president of LEED, for a LEED Convene and Connect. This session is an open and interactive conversation about our built environment and what is needed to respond to the critical challenges of today and tomorrow.
As a global community dedicated to sustainability, health and wellness, resiliency and equity, we know that a thriving future will only be realized if we put in place the frameworks necessary for bold climate action that can be replicated in every community all around the globe. Our goal is to work with you to define the needs of your projects, your organization and our community in order to provide the tools the market needs to take asset level action to meet portfolio targets. This includes addressing topics like the COVID-19 pandemic and health concerns, the climate crisis, electrification, regeneration, reducing inequity, operational and embodied carbon, resilience, green finance and more.
For almost three decades, LEED has challenged the status quo and pushed industries, governments and the private sector to change the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated. We also know that given the current reality of climate change and public health, LEED and our collective work to date has just scratched the surface of what we can—and need to achieve.
In the months ahead, we are asking for your help as we put in place a stakeholder-led blueprint of what the next version of LEED must meet to continue to be the leadership standard for green building and green community certification. You have invested a lot in LEED, and we are humbly asking for you to invest your time once again. As leaders in your respective industries, your voice should be at the table, helping us shape the future so it continues to evolve and meet your needs.
Join us for an engaging conversation about where we go from here. The future possibilities and opportunities for the green building community are endless and we call upon you, our leaders, to ask what’s next, and to inform our next actions.
In addition to presentations and a panel discussion there will be a series of breakout sessions encouraging audience participation.
