Event description

Description

This month's Our Oceans FIlm Showcase film will be "Hot Tuna,"a documentary film by Rick Rosenthal, oceanographer, marine biologist and cinematographer. Rosenthal has a vast collection of critically acclaimed works in his portfolio, including documentarys such as Superfish, the Planet Earth series and features like Deep Blue.

His latest film, "Hot Tuna," Rosenthal follows the mysterious bluefin tuna in their natural environment. They are so sparse that it took Rosenthal 13 years to film this documentary. He also raises awareness about ocean conservation in the need to protect the tuna, which at the present rate of overfishing is reaching potential levels of extinction quickly.

Thanks to a partnership with the Jackson Hole Wild Film Festival, the DC Environmental Film Festival and the Blue Ocean Festival, the American Center will be showing several films over the next few months showcasing the critical importance of the oceans in our lives.
