About this event

Entrusting Yourself to the Stream of the Dharma

When we commit ourselves fully to the practice, even for a short time, something shifts: long-held unconscious patterns surface and can be transformed, new vistas open up, hidden aspirations make themselves known. With the container of retreat and fellow practitioners to steady us, we venture into deeper waters where the strength of the current can carry us towards home.

This retreat will offer an opportunity for both new and experienced meditators to experience the unique benefits of silent, extended practice. We will practice sitting and walking meditation, and the teachers will offer daily guidance and reflection morning and evening. Interviews with Nick will be available on a daily basis, and Henrik will also be available for dharma support.. And the unique desert and forest environment of Cochise Stronghold will instruct us in the dharma as we wake, sit, walk and sleep.

The retreat begins Thursday evening. Practitioners may attend for 3 days (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) or for the full 7 days. Attendees will be expected to help with meal prep and cleanup. Please note that due to COVID precautions, meals, most teachings and interviews will be outdoors, and many meditators will choose to practice in their lodging spaces.

Teachers

Nick Van Kleeck

Has practiced Zen with Robert Aitken and John Tarrant and Vipassana with Gil Fronsdal, Andrea Fella and Upasaka Culadasa. He has also been influenced by the work of A.H. Almaas (the Diamond Approach) and Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) . His own practice and teaching emphasizes body awareness, meeting experience with patience and kindness, and cultivating a trust in the unfolding of the Dharma.

Henrik A. Norberg

I am the cook, and I have practiced in Japanese Tendai, Korean Seon, and the Thai forest tradition. I find it interesting to explore the Dharma from multiple perspectives. I have a long-distance relationship with walking meditation. I casually flirt with magic and have a serious crush on Samadhi. I value humor, simplicity, and authenticity. Lately, I've spent a lot of time practicing in nature, studying early Buddhism and pondering what Buddhism without patriarchy would look like.

More ticket options will be available soon!
