This course will help you better understand the Leave No Trace (LNT) Principles and prepare you to teach them to others.

About this Event

WHAT

The Leave No Trace Principles help protect the places we love. By learning how to teach others these principles we can encourage others to Leave No Trace as well.

This 16-hour course is open to anyone interested in learning more aout Leave No Trace principles and how to teach them in ways that are engaging, impactful and memorable. This course will help you better understand the Leave No Trace (LNT) Principles, but more importantly prepare you to teach the Leave No Trace Principles to others. All participants should be prepared to participate in group activities throughout the 2 days and will be expected to teach a LNT principle to the group (max 10 minutes). Each student will be assigned a principle prior to the course and should come prepared to teach to the group.

WHEN

The course will start at 8am on Saturday and finish between 2-3 pm on Sunday.

COST

The cost of the trip is $50 for the 2 days and includes the facility fees/lodging, instruction, teaching materials, and the Trainer Packets that you will be given.

WHERE

Keller Peak Ski Hut was built by the Ski Mountaineers in 1938 and is managed for the use of all Sierra Club members by the Keller Hut Committee, staffed by volunteers from several club chapters, sections, and groups. The hut is located at an elevation of 6800' between Running Springs and Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mtns. Conveniently located across the street from Snow Valley Ski Area.

LODGING

The Ski Hut has two dormiroty lofts with beds. Comfortable sleeping pads/bunks are provided, but you should plan on bringing your own sleeping bag and pillow. You can also tent camp on the property or sleep in your car if desired.

The hut is fully equipped kitchen with cookware, dishes, and utensils. Furnish your own food, sleeping bag or bedding, flashlight, personal items, bath towels, and hand towels. In cold winter months please contribute firewood for the pot-belly stove and fireplace
