f your child plays piano, keyboard, or guitar, even at a beginning level, help him or her to discover the source of jazz and rock music. Blues is one of the easiest musical structures and can be grasped by even young beginners. The class will cover the instantly recognizable (by all!) 12-Bar Blues form with which students can play thousands of different tunes, but also which teaches the art of improvisation ("jamming"). By class' end, each student will have a firm grasp of the origin and structure of rock and roll as well as musical understanding that will last a lifetime.
Instructor Stan Munslow holds a B.M. in Composition from Berklee College of Music. He has been teaching music and performing since 1982. He is the author of "Eight Traits of the Greats: How the Best Musicians Get That Way".
Cost: $88 includes all six sessions of this class.
