Leadership Development for Conflict Management

At Peak Conflict Solutions, we provide Canada's only Learning Retreat for Conflict Management Training through the courses we offer. This leadership development opportunity is designed for professionals to immerse in an exclusive learning experience, away from daily distractions. Located in the majestic Rocky Mountains, Peak Conflict Solutions has planned an all-inclusive event for professional development with continuing education credits across multiple designations.

Located at Banff National Park, Canada's first national park, and only 1.5-hour drive west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, you will see unparalleled mountain scenery nestled in the heart of the magnificent Canadian Rockies. Snow-capped peaks, glistening glaciers and sweeping vistas are just one part of the allure of Banff National Park.

Professional development and ongoing continuing education is important for professionals who work with people. Suzanne has been designing curriculum and teaching online and classroom courses for post-secondary and professional development training for sixteen years. The courses and training at Peak Conflict Solutions is designed and written to post-secondary standards and intended for managers as well as staff. This practice is set up for learners to apply our training to their professional designation requirements for continuing education.

Peak Conflict Solutions offers Accredited Training for Continuing Education (CE) Credits for Multiple Designations and has agreements with:

At this exclusive event, you will spend Day 1 working on:

Level 1: Introduction to Conflict Management

This 3.5 hour course covers introductory techniques for conflict management through the conflict cycle process. In this process, conflict is reinforced through beliefs, attitudes and responses. Topics include defining conflict, discovering conflict management styles and managing resistance.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

1. Define conflict.

2. Explain how responses to conflict reinforce our beliefs and attitudes about conflict.

3. Describe the five conflict management styles.

4. Explain how to manage resistance in interpersonal communication.

Required Prerequisites: Post- secondary or other professional training and accreditation. There is no prior learning assessment available for this course.

On Day 2, you will complete:

Level 2: Intermediate Conflict Management

This 7.0 hour course covers intermediate techniques for conflict management through the force field analysis model. In this process, managing both the motivating and restraining forces of conflict are important to finding solutions for a conflict situation. Topics include active listening skills, defining strategic conflict objectives and dialogue.

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

1. Explain the Force Field Analysis Model for finding solutions.

2. Demonstrate how to reflect content, reflect feeling and respond with empathy in conflict situations.

3. Define the neutral topic of a conflict situation.

4. Explain how dialogue influences conflict management.

5. Describe the ethical framework for the third party role in conflict management.

Required Prerequisites: Level 1: Introduction to Conflict Management
